Hey everyone! While evangelizing in the park the other day, myself and a couple others had the sweetest encounter with a woman named Haití. Today, I wanted to sit down and share with all of you what happened, because it’s one of my favorite stories so far 🙂

Louís, Brook, Sydney, and I had just arrived at the park, so we started walking around and asking the Lord who He wanted us to speak to today. While doing this, we came across this lady sitting on one of the benches. When I saw her, God just told me “go”. So, I asked Sydney if we could and she said God highlighted the same woman, so we went!

We started by saying hello, how’re you doing, and asking what brought her to the park that day. As Louís translated and was talking with her as well, she began to burst into tears. She said she had been walking all day, her feet were hurting, so she stopped here to get some rest here on this bench. She shared that she had been unemployed for quite some time now, and was homeless. She also has daughters that aren’t very present and overall she has been feeling very alone.

With all of this, God just took over and gave each of us the words to say. Sydney had it on her heart to share that the Lord calls her a daughter, that she is beautiful, worthy, loved, and the Lord is taking care of her. He is even taking care of her daughters and providing a pathway for her in this rough season. As well as giving her understanding that this is only a season, not a lifelong problem, because Jesus is already bringing it to an end! Sharing that God is going to teach her many things through each of these trials and that He is already working all of it together. A job, healing within her family, food in her belly, a roof over her head, and surrounding her with a loving community that will also help her through this.

We just got to sit with her and listen. Sometimes that is all someone may need, just someone to sit with them and listen. Listening to what she is going through, listening to what has been hurting her, listening because we want to, not because we have to. Listening because we WANT to love her, help her, and BE THERE for her… because she honestly felt like no one was. And what is so beautiful is that God brought us specifically to her to BE THERE, LISTEN, LOVE, ENCOURAGE, HELP, and SHARE WITH HER. He moved in our conversations, in Haití’s heart, and spoke so much life over this sweet lady when she least expected.

Before we left, Haití wanted to give us something in return after sitting and talking with her. So, she took off her angel earrings and offered them to us, but instead of taking them, Sydney insisted that we pray over her earrings as little guardian angels to protect her wherever she goes. Praying that as she wears them, that it’s also a reminder of our time together and that we will all meet again someday. 🙂

With long hugs, lots of prayer, and many smiles, we said our goodbyes. Louís got her contact information, so that she is able to get connected with the Hope Project for anything she may need as well! There’s more to this story, but if there’s any questions you may have or you want to know more, just reach out! 🙂

Thanks for all your prayers and for reading! I love you all and God bless!

  1. Sounds like you were just as blessed by Haiti as she was by you! What a beautiful time together!!

  2. She needed to be seen and heard. Pretty cool idea to pray over her earrings, a daily reminder of your prayer.
