Hey everyone! Let me update you on ALL THE THINGS!
:)Last Friday, March 19th, my squad and I packed up our things and said goodbye to what we called our home for the past 3 months. That same day, we hopped on a bus and traveled the two-three hours to La Montaña for Debrief. Debrief is a week long period where racers have the opportunity to spend time with their coaches, mentor, squad leaders, team, and squad. A time to rest, process, grieve, reflect, remember, and celebrate everything that happened while living in Costa Rica. We have a schedule we follow and it looks different each day. But, we have breakfast, quiet time with the Lord, worship, a teaching from our mentor/coaches, lunch, team debriefs, one on one’s with leadership, fun time on campus, dinner, and whatever else the coaches have planned for us that evening. This has given me so much time with the Lord to reflect and process what I learned in Costa and how I can prepare myself going into the Dominican Republic. Just a lil recharge! But also, a lot of intentional time with my squad mates, which has been SO AMAZING and EXTREMELY FUN!
:)On Friday, March 26th, Gap D will hop on another bus early that morning and arrive at the Costa Rican airport to depart for Panama. We will fly together as a squad to Panama and will have a 6 hour layover before our next flight to the DR. Once we get to the DR, we will take a bus to get to the Mission of Hope base! Ah! I’m so pumped!
🙂MINISTRY DEETS: “Adventures in Missions will be partnering up with a local ministry in Santiago, DR. Mission of Hope partners with local Haitian and Dominican pastors, so we will be serving both people groups. We will primarily be ministering door to door (creating relationships with families, sharing the gospel, and doing what we can for this community). We also have the opportunity to help out with some construction projects, upkeep around the base, helping run a nutrition program, and bible study ministry!”
:)This is super exciting, because my very first mission trip was in the DR two years ago! This is where my love for mission work started and I love that I am able to finish my last 2 months of the race living here with this community. Being able to have the opportunity to go back into this country and keep building relationships with the locals and sharing the gospel with them is just such a blessing! Ah, wow! It’s just so cool to see how the Lord put this together.
🙂HOW TO CONTACT ME: While I am living in the DR, it will be very hard to stay in contact with all of you. I don’t have an international phone plan and WiFi is very expensive in the DR. When I lived in Costa Rica, our squad lived in the city, so it was a lot easier to walk somewhere to get WiFi and call our families. But, soon we will be living in a more rural area and won’t have easy access to WiFi. Mission of Hope does offer WiFi, but since WiFi is so pricy in the DR, they charge each person $25 a week. You receive a code for the WiFi password and after that week is up, your code for the WiFi expires. I will do my best to try and keep in touch, but if I am unable, this is why. But, feel free to send me a message through What’s App or social media and I will get back to you when I am able! <3 I love hearing from each of you and answering any questions you might have! 🙂
Until we meet again, I love you all and thank you for your prayers, financial support, and love! I appreciate each of you SO MUCH! Message me if you have any questions or just want to catch up and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Blessings! – Jamie <3
