Thoughts & Inspiration

Hola mi amigos! This morning, I was reading through my old journal entries from the beginning of January and I came across all my notes from ministry orientation with the Hope Project! As I was looking through these notes, I thought it would be SUPER helpful to give y’all a better understanding on what this ministry is all about! This orientation is the best one I have ever had and taught me so many things when it comes to doing mission work.

LONG- TERM MISSION:

1.) Learn

  • Learning about the culture, the families, yourself and more.

2.) Fellowship

  • Fellowship is building relationships here.

3.) Encouragement

  • Encouragement is building others up and helping them see the beautiful side of things.

 DAILY MISSION:

1.) Impact

2.) Restore

3.) Disciple

FOCUS:

Focus on what people have and counsel them. Asking questions and creating an action plan. But first, allowing them to verbally process everything going on in their lives. Also focusing on: reshaping identity, restoring dignity, making people feel heard and seen, helping people steward their own gifts and talents to God, and rebuilding families.

Creating hope, motivating, focusing on joy, goodness, family, love, and putting backs on where they came from and helping them get to where they’re dreaming of going! 🙂

We want to focus on the person’s skills, capabilities, and gifts. The starting point is to ask them what their gifts are. Simply asking this question opens the door to so much. And lastly, asking the Lord what He is already doing in that person’s life and how we can walk alongside them in that.

RESOURCES:

Hope Project offers resources and will help each person get to where they want/need to go. Empowering people to step out in freedom and giving them the tools to do that. Offering many programs to counsel and equip people. This ministry is also very, very intentional and believes that every person has a part in the body of Christ. And since everyone has their part, we should allow them to do their part and we do ours. With that, Hope Project has a resource binder to send people where they can get professional help if needed. This ministry can do what they are equipped for, and for the things that they are not, they will send people to another place. This could look like someone being abused and sending that person to get professional help at a center nearby. That way each ministry in the community can do their part in being the body of Christ. Sticking to their part and letting the body of Christ, be the body. 1 Corinthians 12: 12-21

ADDRESSING HOW GIVING CAN BE:

Materials don’t change anything. People will sometimes feel shame or guilt when others just give them things, because they were unable to afford it. We want to empower them, help them, and give them the tools they need. We want long- term effect! Building relationships, loving and getting to know people, striving towards everlasting renewal.

  • THE WAY WE HELP CHANGES EVERYTHING

HOW WE CAN CALL OUT THE GREATNESS IN OTHERS:

Asking questions, encouraging, and uplifting people. People want to do so, so much in life, but don’t think it’s possible. Anyone can do anything in the world, so push, encourage, and inspire others. We are called to help others and give them hope 🙂 dealing with the core issues, finding inner healing with the Lord, reminding others that they are made in the image of God, they have a part in the body of Christ, a part in the Kingdom, and that there is ALWAYS a seat at the table with Jesus.

 WHAT MISSION IS ALL ABOUT:

Mission is truly about relationships. It’s not do, do, do, do. That can help, but that doesn’t help long-term. We want to impact people long-term, giving them opportunities, resources, and help. Loving, serving, and turning community into family. Also, not to put so much weight on yourself when going out and doing mission work. Long-term effect takes time, so trust in what the Lord is already doing and continuing to do in people’s lives. And to recognize that you are just as broken. Everyone is broken! Whether it be physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually, we all are in some way. And since we are all broken, we can all come together and find refuge, strength, healing, and hope in the Lord and Him alone. Together 🙂

There is so much that was discussed in Hope Project’s training and orientation, but these are some of the things I wanted to touch base on with all of you today. Micah and Melissa have been doing such an amazing job with this ministry along with all the other ambassadors in this organization and it is such a joy partnering with them! 🙂 If any of you have questions, feel free to reach out or comment below! I love you guys!

Also, here are some scriptures that I would love for you to sit on with the Lord today!

  • Isaiah 61: 1-2, “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring the good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against the enemies.”
  • Luke 4: 18-19, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring the Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”
